Empty Shirts Demonstration
March 19, 2008 marked the fifth anniversary of the start of the war in Iraq. Our chapter participated in a demonstration along Clifton Avenue, a large centrally located street here in Cincinnati. We formed part of a group of 700 people who lined the street with tee shirts hung on clothes line, each shirt symbolizing a life lost in Iraq. The turnout was good despite the cold rain. The event was sponsored by the IJPC (Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center, a local coalition of faith based organizations working together on a variety of social issues.) Photo -E. Hamilton

Chapter Gets Involved in Community Service
We’re working on ideas for volunteering in the community. We’ve served soup at the Drop Inn Center (a center for homeless men and women with recovery programs for men) and will be helping at the FreestoreFoodbank in April. We plan to make a standing commitment to these organizations.

Chapter Holds Planning Retreats
Around the time we received official chapter status, our group held two day-long planning retreats. A lot of fruitful discussion cames out of these retreats held in January and March (2008). For our March retreat, we welcomed members from the Lexington BPF group. Below is a photo from our first retreat. Photo P. Davis
